Hiring in Chile through an EOR: a buyer’s checklist

A US team hiring in Chile should make its operating expectations visible early. The proposed schedule, remote-work arrangement, equipment needs and start date give the local employment team something concrete to review. “Standard full-time hire” is usually too vague for a useful comparison.

Resolve the working arrangement before the contract is drafted

Write down the hours the team expects to overlap, whether the employee will travel and where work will take place. Ask the provider to assess the proposed arrangement and explain any changes it requires. This avoids treating a US team’s working practices as if they automatically fit the local employment agreement.

Four questions for the quote call

Can the proposed schedule be supported?

Share the actual schedule and ask how working time, additional hours and time-off approvals will be administered for the role.

Who provides and supports equipment?

Agree who buys devices, arranges delivery, handles repair or replacement and owns the equipment at the end of employment.

How are remote-work changes documented?

Ask what happens if the employee moves, starts working from a customer office or changes working hours. Identify who reviews and records each change.

Which deadline controls the start date?

Request a checklist of prerequisites, including signed documents, funding and any local onboarding steps. Ask for a date based on your complete case, not the provider’s fastest example.

A buying scenario

For a Chile-based customer-success hire expected to cover US business hours, send the schedule with the quote request. A slightly cheaper proposal is not comparable if it assumes a different working arrangement.

Your next step

Use the proposed schedule and work setup as part of the quote specification. Confirm the contract supports how the team will actually operate.
